What is Cocoa butter?

cocoabutterCocoa butter is a pale-yellow, edible vegetable fat extracted from the cacao bean. Cocoa butter is used to make chocolate, pharmaceuticals, tanning oils, lotions, ointments and a variety of other items.  Cocoa butter is generally solid at room temperature, but melts at body temperature, making it ideal as a topical medication.

Cocoa butter is one of the most stable fats, it contains natural antioxidants and moisturizers making it ideal for stretch mark prevention and removal. Cocoa butter has the ability to keep skin smooth and supple. It is readily absorbed into the skin and used an active ingredient in most stretch mark, eczema and dermatitis creams. Cocoa butter creates a barrier between sensitive skin and environmental stressors to help retain moisture.

Cocoa Butter and Stretch Marks

Pregnant women, athletes and body builders  have been using cocoa butter for stretch marks for decades. Cocoa butter creams not only prevent stretch marks but they also promote relaxation and reduce stress. Cocoa butter has the ability to boost your immune system and even prevent cancer. This is due to the CMP, or cocoa mass polyphenol,  which inhibits the growth of the immuno globulin  and the growth of cancerous cells and tumors by reducing active oxygen levels in the body. CMP also reduces the oxidation of LDL, good cholesterol,  and the production of inflammatory cells.

But it is cocoa butters moisturizing abilities that make it effective in preventing stretch marks.  Pure Cocoa butter can visibly reduce and diminish stretch marks, scars and burns over time. Cocoa butter penetrates the top layer of the skin and can reach the dermis, or second layer. Cocoa butter will then start repairing the damaged areas from the inside out. No side effects have been reported from using cocoa butter for stretch marks.
